Birmingham City University是一個生機勃勃而又充滿文化多元化的大學，其歷史最早可追溯到1843年，原名為中央英格蘭大學，後來更名為伯明罕城市大學。伯明翰城市大學是英國主要大的學之一，位於英國第二大城市伯明翰， 學生人數約25,000人。著重在教育和專業學術研究及實務的創新，並與工商業合作以及公共服務。BCU為伯明翰第三大的大學，在1992年升格為英格蘭中部大學，在2007更名為伯明翰城市大學，反映出對家鄉的承諾與榮耀。
擁有百年歷史的藝術設計學院(BIAD)傲視群校。學校有九個學院三百餘種大學、碩士及博士班課程，其中許多學院已成立超過一百五十年。校內設施新穎完善著重學生個人實作技能及經驗。九座圖書館是各校區教學與學習的重要資源，藏書數十萬冊、一千兩百餘種期刊、影印設備、CD-ROMs、錄影帶、幻燈片等等。本校學生均可使用電腦及相關設施。 學生可輕易使用或取得各種食衣住行育樂的資源。
